Evaluation Procedures for Deicing Chemicals (WM286)

Important considerations for choosing a deicer. Covers twelve primary tests used in evaluating alternatives to salt for deicing. Describes tests for evaluating penetration rates, ice undercutting, corrosive effect of deicers on metal, and other tests for choosing liquid or solid deicers. Cites an additional source of information: “Handout of Test Methods for Evaluating Chemical Deicers.”
