A View from the Road—February 2017
David Orr PE, Director, CLRP
Like you, the Cornell Local Roads Program prepares an annual report each year. We sent in the draft 2016 report to the New York State Department of Transportation on the last day of January. Look for the highlights in the 2017 Program Services Guide that will be mailed later this month. Looking back, we had a great year with your help.
Each year we prepare and review a list of measurable goals. Having measurable goals that are realistic, that may not always get met, but that are achievable, is a known way to help focus the direction of program activities. When new opportunities arise, we can very quickly make decisions on priorities and changes. For instance, in 2016 we did more invited presentations at regional and statewide events because you asked for them, but this meant we were not able to attend as many county-level highway officials association meetings as we originally planned.
One slightly surprising insight came when we did a review of the Program website. The pie chart below shows the number of page views by area within our website. Our short Quick Answers had almost a third of all of the page views! That tells us that you value the Quick Answer series. We will be sure to keep adding new answers to your questions.
Location details are on the website.
