What roads need to have Dead End Road signs?

Every road or street that does not have an alternative exit should be posted with a dead end (or no outlet) sign.

Dead end and No outlet signs

This is especially true with modern GPS systems that sometimes show roads as connecting when they actually do not. Also, these signs are required under NYS General Municipal Law 125-a for any road or street that “terminates in a dead end or (a) body of water.” A previous Quick Answer provides details on where to place the dead end and no outlet signs.
