What are the regulations regarding Building Permits, Zoning Regulations, and Peddler Restrictions on signs at the entry into a town?

Building, Zoning and peddler restrictions signs are not covered in the MUTCD since they are information signs. Their use and placement are subject to the rules and regulations of the municipality, if put on local roads the signage option is set by the local authority, if they are to be placed on a state highway it is best to seek advice from the regional NYSDOT Engineer prior to installing any signs.

When installing these signs within the Right of Way or Clear Zone the support posts should be crashworthy. These signs have the lowest priority and should be placed where they do not conflict or obscure the visibility of any other sign.
