Roadway and Roadside Drainage
Road Master CORE Course

Who Should Attend
Crew leaders including foremen, equipment operators, superintendents of small highway departments, and others who want to gain knowledge of open drainage systems. The course is geared to practical day-to-day operations.

Instructor
David P. Orr, P.E., is the Senior Engineer for the Cornell Local Roads Program. Formerly the Deputy Highway Superintendent for Yates County, David has over fifteen years of road-related experience.

Properties and effects of soil and subsurface water
What subsurface drains do not do
Purpose of cross section elements and maintenance techniques
How to maintain, inspect, and install culverts
Purpose and maintenance of ditches
Types of erosion and ways to reduce erosion
