Train the Trainer: Instructor Training for Work Zone Traffic Control

Who Should Attend

Crew leaders, safety officers and others who train crew members to flag and set up work zones are encouraged to attend.


Al Bachner, P.E., is retired from the New York State Department of Transportation. His work has focused on traffic safety issues. He is currently an adjunct professor at Nassau Community College.

Ken Swain, retired from NYSDOT with over 37 years of experience in highway construction and maintenance, employee safety and health, training and outreach

Day 2

  • Review of Day 1
  • Practicing what you teach


$75 per attendee

Timing of workshops

This is a 2-day workshop. Day 1 involves a brief overview of work zone traffic control followed by detailed information on teaching workshops to your crew. Day 2 will involve practice and instructional help to make you a better trainer. Day 1 is currently scheduled for 8.30am to 3pm. Sign-in starts at 8am. The final schedule for Day 2 is not set yet, but will end by 3 pm.
