View from the Road - March 2018
David Orr PE, Director, CLRP
Last month I talked about creating a network of contacts. It takes time, but it pays off in the end because we learn from and support each other. Our program manager Melissa Foley and I recently spent two days in Albany meeting with statewide partners and we still could not meet with everyone. We met with the Federal Highway Administration, Association of Towns, the New York Conference of Mayors, NYS Association of Town Superintendents of Highways, Liquid Asphalt Distributors Association, and five programs or bureaus within the main office of New York State Department of Transportation. We shared ideas, learned new things, met new people, and reestablished relationships.
We found speakers for the 2018 Highway School, learned about new folks at the FHWA NY Division and NYSDOT, collaborated on projects such as private and minimum maintenance roads, obtained materials for new Quick Answers and Tech Tips, and shared our 2018 schedule with partners and colleagues. In short, we strengthened our network so our program can better help you maintain the roads and streets across New York State. We are always stronger and more effective together.
