Yes, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has developed a process to allow the review of temporary, alternate uses of state highway rights-of-way for the purposes of enhancing social distancing for dining and retail.

Requests for the use of NYSDOT rights-of-way can be made via a new COVID-19 temporary use permit. More details can be found in the accompanying documents linked in the resources section below.
